Deck Pointer on Steam Deck
Connect your phone over Wi-Fi when Bluetooth will not hold. Beta.
Download the installer
Open this page on the Steam Deck, in Desktop Mode. Every step with screenshots: the guide.
Install
- On the Deck, switch to Desktop Mode: STEAM button, Power, Switch to Desktop.
- Open this page in the browser and tap Download the installer.
- Open Install Deck Pointer from Downloads and allow it to run.
- Return to Gaming Mode and open Deck Pointer from your library (Non-Steam). It shows a code.
- On the phone, in Deck Pointer: Add new device, Steam Deck, Wi-Fi, and enter the code.
What it installs
- A small background service that runs as your user. No password, no root, no system files changed.
- Everything lives in
~/.local/share/deckpointer, plus a Deck Pointer entry in your Steam library. - It listens only on your local network (TCP 47820, UDP 47821). The link to the phone is encrypted and paired with a code.
- Your input goes from the phone to the Deck over your Wi-Fi only. Once a day the Deck asks deckpointer.com whether a newer version is out, and installs it only when you tap Update.
Uninstall
In Desktop Mode, open the app menu and run Uninstall Deck Pointer.
Already use Decky Loader?
The Deck Pointer plugin does the same from Quick Access. Download deck-pointer-decky.zip, then in Decky: Settings, Developer, Install Plugin from ZIP.
